Foundation for Social Responsibility / Verein für soziale Verantwortung

To use her popularity for good and at the same time give something back to her faithful fans, Ms. Borek has teamed up with friends to call an association to life, whose goal is to act as responsible citizens. To make things a little better. To bridge the ever widening gap in between rich and poor, educated, priviledged people and those without a decent chance at a decent dream even.

Blog 23.10.2012

I've already told many of you two days ago on my Facebook fan page about my new fan card initiative and totally forgot that there are many who don't have a Facebook profile, so I'm posting everything again here on my homey blog.

My dear fans! I've come up with something:

500 limited PREMIUM FAN CARDS + MEET AND GREET with me + DONATION :) :)

Of late, as I have been working intensively on my music, I have become even more aware of my personal responsibility. As a person standing in the public eye I would like to give something to those who haven't had as much luck in life as me. That's why I thought of something:

Together with the 'Verein für Soziale Verantwortung' (Foundation for Social Responsibility) I've created a limited 'PREMIUM Fan Card' to exclusively thank the most loyal fans and at the same time render a little financial aid to children in need. In addition, one of you can win a "MEET and GREET" with me... So if you like my fan card and the idea behind it as much as I do, I would be pleased if YOU would become the owner of one of only 500 existing cards. :)

And here is the link  :) :) :) You would do me a huge favor if you would also read the additional text below after clicking on the link! Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance and have fun!

Additional text :)

WOW, I'm really majorly stoked and you are simply GREAT - in only 24 hours almost 100 fan cards have already been sold :)))))))))) YIPPI!!!!!!!!!!
I've read that some of you obviously had some problems understanding this initiative ;), and even though I didn't think that it would be necessary, I would like to explain everything a little more and answer your questions:

First of all, this isn't a mere fundraising campaign, but these are first and foremost fan cards from me as a Thank You for your incredible support beginning with HaHe and continuing on today. Every single one is personally signed by me, and you are welcome to ask for an additional dedication.

(Please use the commentary box in PayPal while paying - don't send a separate email as it might not be possible to attribute this information correctly with the amount of cards.)

If all cards are sold, we'll donate at least 1000 Euros to a school in Berlin-Neukölln. This is the amount that will hopefully remain after the deduction of all costs :)

And if the donation should be made possible (which I would be very happy about) you will be able to win a “Meet and Greet” with me as an additional Thank You from me to you.

(PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY FOR BOTH on the Ebay profile page.)

Unfortunately we won’t be able to donate the total proceeds from the cards for the children because, as you can imagine, I’m not doing all this on my own and enormous costs have already accrued prior to the start of this campaign:

Just as an example, of the total proceeds about 1000 Euros is spent on Ebay fees, another 500 Euros at least on PayPal. Renting a location for the foundation which I co-founded as well (at least one new job will be created here!). Photo shootings, costs of the printing materials, expense allowances for the team, and so on.

This foundation isn’t planned as something short-lived but was co-founded by me to undertake many more and meaningful support campaigns... it is in the founding stages at the moment, but with all the necessary bureaucracy something like this takes a while – and we thought that despite that we wanted to start with this campaign still this year.

So some of the earned money will be used to keep the foundation viable and capable of acting.

Looked at this way, the total proceeds are going to a good cause.

Of course you’ll be kept well informed about the donation campaign with pictures and videos, when I’ll present the donation to the school still this year. My team is doing this for you gladly but of course their expenses have to be compensated, since they’re sacrificing their time and passion. The people on the team are only human too and they have to somehow make a living, just like you do…

But I’m confident that together we can achieve all this. :)

Keep it up – I’m happy about every bit of support and look forward to every reaction!

Your Kasia :)

My dear followers :)

last Sunday my first fan card campaign ended and we have unexpectedly achieved a different and maybe better goal.

The initial way of the foundation was to sell the 500 cards and donate part of the proceeds. And your additional thought was to collect larger sums of money to make the donation possible despite not achieving the required amount of card sales.

Both sides - YOU and the foundation - have grown with this great experience and can now work more consciously and more purposefully in the future.

I have heard from donors that some weren't able to afford a card but still put a few Euros into the pot - that has impressed me very much and has shown that you are using your minds, are social and want to help others.

It has been said that I got too hung up on the growing sales of the cards, yes, maybe advertised  for it a little too much and too often, and yes, of course, I wanted to reach this goal, who can blame me for that; but with the high work pace I neglected to measure it out right, to build trust and to not lose hope that everything would somehow work out in the end.

You know how it is - you get something new off the ground and in the heat of the moment you forget most of the matters of course and you simply need to hear sometimes that "Everything will be alright".

And look, "Everything worked out even better than alright".

We've garnered a heavy donation sum. It's about 1700 Euros!!!

(I'll give you the exact amount after all the donations have been received.)

It's my wish that together we'll continue to be able to do something good for others and I would like it if the 'Verein für Soziale Verantwortung' (Foundation for Social Responsibility) could help with and convey that.

But first of all, the donation will be handed over at the beginning of December!

I'm very much looking forward to it!

Your Kasia

DONATION :)

This morning, the 'Verein für Soziale Verantwortung' (Foundation for Social Responsibility) and I visited the 'Schule am Zwickauer Damm' (School on Zwickauer Damm), a learning center for special needs education, in Berlin-Neukölln and gladly handed over the donation sum of 1700 Euros.

I'm happy that with the donated money we were able to give a youth that's from a socially disadvantaged parental home a nice present for Saint Nicholas' Day or Christmas respectively.

I've gained another life experience together with YOU and now wish you all a wonderful pleasant wintertime.

Here you can see how the presentation of the donation looked like:

Official Press Release

Verein für Soziale Verantwortung (Foundation for Social Responsibility) presents school with donation

The "Verein für Soziale Verantwortung", newly-established by actress Kasia Borek and visual artist Eiko Sabela, presents a donation of 1700,- EUR to the Schule am Zwickauer Damm (School on Zwickauer Damm) on Friday, November 30th 2012. The donation is meant to help students be able to participate in the school lunches, since many of the students' parents don't have the means to provide their children with a meal during the school day.

"With this donation two goals of the foundation can be implemented: aid for people in need and the promotion of culture", says Kasia Borek, "because aside from the healthy nutrition in which the children partake, every Friday the students learn to sit down together with their whole class and to share a meal at a set table and the corresponding table culture/manners."

"Many students don't know this kind of sitting down together at a table from their home environment. Also, many of the students only learn about fruits and vegetables and the importance of a balanced diet here in school", adds Eiko Sabela.

This year, the foundation would like to support this holistic approach of the school which goes beyond mere studying. And so from now on the foundation plans to present at least one donation a year to different recipients who will be carefully selected beforehand. Thus the focus isn't meant to remain on a single problem but rather with time, attention will be directed to different problem areas of society which should be particularly emphasized.

Last month, the foundation started its first campaign on the internet to acquire funds for the preparation of upcoming campaigns and for the 'Schule am Zwickauer Platz' at the same time.
The majority of the donation for the school came about by an internal fund drive within the "Jemma International" fan network during the course of this campaign.

The donation will be handed over to the principal Barbara Gutmann at the school by the foundation's chair persons Kasia Borek and Eiko Sabela between 9 and 11 o'clock.
