Episode 168

Before on 'Hand aufs Herz'

Michael:I don’t want Ben to be an issue anymore!

Bea:Then don’t let him be an issue! Stop talking about him! And by god, let me go to this camp. After it everything will be alright!

Michael: Maybe for you.

Bea:Do you really believe that I'll have nothing better to do than get involved with Ben there? Do you trust me so little?

Michael:Ben still means a lot to you and it never stopped.

(Intro)

Part 1

[Bea's place]

Bea : This is not happening!

Michael:The moment his name is spoken you drop everything for him!

Bea:Because I’m his teacher, damn! And again! What would you think if I imply that you only go to school to see Helena?

Michael:You can’t compare this!

Bea:No? You don’t get it! She’s trying everything to separate us!

Michael:And you always use her to change the topic! And you do it right now!

Bea:We both are quarreling, and nothing but quarreling! And that’s exactly what she wants!

I must pack my things now!

Michael:Bea!

[Hospital]

Timo:Do you have an allergy against handicapped persons?

Jenny:Maybe it’s just because of the flowers!?

Bodo:Great, the gift of the STAG and I’m sneezing it away!

Timo:I’ve finished with the STAG! It’s all over!

Jenny:Hey you, the best I haven’t told you yet! This camp where Emma has to go, it’s for Team coaching! She’s only there as the lapdog, but for Ronnie, Sophie, Caro and Ben it’s the last chance. Otherwise they will be expelled!

Timo:Sophie and Caro together, crawling in the mud... I would love to see that!

Bodo:Not crawling in the sweet mud... 30 km hiking and climbing per day! I bet they don’t feel their legs in the evening!

Jenny:Hey...

Bodo:Sorry...

Timo:Anyway they cannot condemn me to such shit! I can get away with everything from now on.

[Bergmann Villa]

(Ben watches tapings of the STAG (Timo) performing 'Let me entertain you')

Stefan:Do you think watching this is good?

Ben:Shit, man! The guy was good, he had talent! That’s all for nothing cause I drove that dumb race.

Stefan:Ronny and you, beyond doubt, made a big mistake, but your friend Timo left the hospital without permission. He is also responsible.

Ben: He was lying in the hospital because of me in the first place. Why it’s got him and not me?

Stefan:You have to find a way to handle it. WillMs. Vogel still accompany you to the team coaching camp?

Ben:When she’s looking at me… I always think she knows!

Stefan:Ben, I know about your special relationship. Especially because of that it’s necessary that you‘ll stay away from her! Don’t let yourself get carried away and tell someone about the whole thing. Not even if you think you’ll feel better by doing that. This team coaching is your last chance to get your high-school diploma at the Pestalozzi

Ben:Two people are dead, Timo will never walk again and you are interested in my f**king high-school diploma?

Stefan:If you go to the police now, your high-school diploma will be your smallest problem, you know that! And it won't help anybody, not even Timo! What he needs is a real good friend.

Ben:Yes.

Stefan:Ben, you have to be strong. Go through with the Team coaching and don’t mess with Ronnie and stay away from Ms. Vogel. Your life is complicated enough! Okay?

[Hospital]

(Milow – “Out of my hands” playing in the background)

Timo:So? Are you already planning your next big performance?

Bodo:Nobody is planning anything at the moment. Nobody feels like dancing anymore.

Timo: Neither do I. Come on, guys! Have you never wished to stay in bed the whole day; nobody tells you to get up; nobody forces you to go to school? Hey, my dream has come true! I’ll never have to get up again!

Jenny:Timo! You really don’t have to pretend!

Timo:And by the way, the nurses here are just…[perfect] I think there is one coming soon, so it would probably be better, if you…[indicates them to leave]

Jenny:Fine, then we’ll see you very very soon, ok?

Timo:I’m perfectly being taken care of here. You don’t have to come around constantly.

Bodo:I won’t claim to know how you feel now, because I have no idea.

Timo:Hey, relax!

Bodo:But I know I won’t let you down!

Timo:I’m fine!

Bodo:I don’t believe it. I think you feel crappy. I’ll drop in again tomorrow. And the day after tomorrow, too. You won’t have to go through this shi.t alone. I promise.

[In front of the school]

(Emma, Caro, Ben, Sophie, Ronnie & Mrs Krawcyk waiting to leave for the Camp)

Caro:Ey, 5am, they are crazy!

Mrs Krawcyk: That’s exactly the attitude that brought you here.

Emma(on the phone with Jenny): Yes, I’ll call you in between. And, greet Timo from me and tell him that…that I’ll call him as soon as possible…Yes.

Caro: Timo is lucky. At least he won’t have to participate in such shi.t anymore.

Emma: Let her talk. There’s just rubbish coming out anyway!

Caro:Watch what you're saying!

Ben:You better watch what YOU are saying!

Emma:I uh…I’ve done some research on outdoor team coaching and the students had to eat raw bird’s eggs there!

Ronnie: Ok, I’m gone!

Mrs Krawcyk: Stop! Nobody here has to eat bird’s eggs. That’s the most absurd nonsense, I’ve ever heard!

Caro: Speaking of bird eggs (German: Vogeleier), where is Ms Vogel? That’s not exactly the pedagogical rolemodel! But that’s nothing new either!

Sophie:Ey, you’re so annoying!

Emma: They will all kill each other.

Mrs Krawcyk: I’m afraid, they won’t do us that favor.

(The coach for the camp arrives)

Coach John: Good Morning!

Caro: Hello!

Coach John: Hi! My name is Johannes. You can call me John!

Mrs Krawcyk: Well it seems the camp won’t be that bad after all.

Caro: I’m Caro!

Coach John: I’ve already heard that you are a, well, quite chaotic bunch! Undisciplined, that has never heard of team spirit. But that will change!

Ben: Well, if we start hugging trees, then I’m out!

Ronnie:I won’t let such a guy teach me anything, ok?!

Coach John: I’m not here to teach you anything. Everything that you need to know, is already in you. My task will be to reactivate that, so that you know again how to appreciate each other. This trip will probably be not a walk-over but it will surely be very, very educational for everybody.

Emma:But I can’t eat bird eggs.

Part 2

[Apartment of Michael and Sebastian]

Sebastian:Just that I get you right: Helena blackmailed Bea. If she doesn’t march through the forest for three days, then Ben would get expelled?

Michael:Kind of.

Sebastian:But you are mad at Bea?

Michael:It’s…Thank you…It’s not about this team coaching. The fact is that as soon as the little Bergmann f**ks up, Bea stands in for him so that nothing happens to him. And the little Bergmann f**ks things up all the time…

Sebastian:So you want Bea to be responsible for Ben’s suspension? THE Bea, who would do everything for her students! For ALL students! You would prefer Ben being expelled, so that he won’t take Bea away from you?

Michael:It’s not about that! I know that Helena uses unfair means.

Sebastian:At least.

Michael:But the worst part is that she doesn’t have to do anything. Bea provides her with all the necessary ammunition. As soon as the name “Ben” is mentioned…TADA…she is there!

Sebastian:I don’t know what is going on between Ben and Bea. But one thing is for sure: Your ex wields her power over Bea to play you off against each other. Helena is the one, who would need a 'jungle camp' (German TV show). But instead of delivering a clear message to Helena, you stab Bea in the back. You’ve been completely rattled since Helena has been back.

Michael:No, I know what I want! And it’s really about time for Bea to make a decision!

[At the camp]

Caro:I can’t live without this thing!

(John took all cells, mp3-players etc away from the students)

Coach John: No discussion.

Caro:But you’ve already got my mobile phone and my player.

Coach John: You’ve got enough of this stuff in your face believe me. At this trip everyone has to show their true face, not made up, no distraction. No mobile phones, no text messages, no internet, no music. I will bring you to the limits of your physical capacity and confront you with tasks you won't be able to manage on your own, but only as a team.

Ben:Hallelujah!

Coach John: Where is the second teacher?

Mrs Krawcyk: I don’t know?

Coach John: Can you please call her?

Bea:I’m sorry. Bea Vogel. I’m late.

Coach John: You should know right now that I make no distinction between teachers and students. There are the same rules for everyone. And punctuality is important for a good team.

Bea:Yes, you’re definitely right.

(Bea wants to hand in her mobile)

Coach John: You can keep this as the responsible teacher.

Bea:Same rules for everyone.

Mrs Krawcyk: Are you sure? And if someone wants to reach you?

Bea:Maybe it’s quite good not to be available for three days.

Coach John: All aboard! Departure!

[On the way to the camp]

Caro:I´m thirsty. Does dying of thirst belong to this training?

Johannes:Is she always this dramatic?

Mrs Krawcyk:You can´t imagine… How does it happen that a modern man retracts into this jungle?

Johannes:Mrs. Krawcyk... the entire life is a jungle. And this is nothing. I lived 5 years in the Australian outback.. rats, vipers, crakes … that, that is the real jungle

(The path ends at a huge tree trunk, which leads over a small valley.)

Johannes: To everyone here. For the next step of the route you actually need the help of your partner! So, who´s first?

Caro:Over this?

Ronny:Do you want us to end up in a wheelchair, as well?

Ben:Dude shut your mouth!

Emma:I’m sure it’s fun

Sophie:Ms Vogel, I can´t go across.. You know I have this fear of heights, since.. [she nearly jumped of the school]

Ronny: Me too, my whole life...

Johannes: Okay, you stay here and I take another route with Mrs. Krawcyk and the other students.

(Johannes points at the opposite side of the valley)

Johannes:When you arrive over there the camp is straight ahead. Just wait in the camp for us until we arrive.

Ronny:I will stay here as well.

Johannes:For real? What´s about your fear of heights?

Ronny: I will conquer my fear. That´s why we are here, right?

Johannes:So let´s go.

(All are wearing the protective gear.)

Emma (to Ronny):Now you have to secure Ms. Vogel.

Ronny:Ben can catch here with his lasso!

Ben: Be careful, I will do it.

Emma: No, let him try.

(Ronny secures Ms. Vogel with his rope, so she can cross the trunk. But on the way she falls and Ronny…)

[In school]

Michael:You and I have to talk….What are you up to?

Mrs. Heisig:I’ll teach Mrs. Krawzyk’s class. It will be fun to teach again.

Michael:Why are you blackmailing Bea? What´s this bullshit about the team coaching?

Mrs. Heisig:Blackmail?

Michael:In fact, you are after something completely different.

Mrs. Heisig:And what might that be?

Michael:You want to break me and Bea up.

Mrs. Heisig:Do you really believe, that three nights will break you and Bea up? You really trust your girlfriend, hmm…

Michael:Before you came here everything went great.

Mrs. Heisig:If your relationship was fine, you wouldn´t panic right now and make a scene in front of me. In my position as the principal I have to make decisions and if you can´t leave Bea and the students alone in the woods for just one night, it´s not my problem. By the way.. tonight is the night of falling stars. Did you know? Very romantic!

[Hiking in the woods]

(Group 1: Ben, Bea, Ronnie, Emma – Group 2: Krawcyk, John, Sophie, Caro)

Ben:Hey, is everything ok?

Bea:Hm, I think I sprained my ankle.

Ben:Dude, how many other people are supposed to kick the bucket because of you?

Bea:What was that?

Ronnie:Nothing. This guy has got too many female hormones!

Ben:Ok, very, very slowly! Can you stand up?

Bea:Ahh…mhhh.. it’s ok. Ouch…

Mrs Krawcyk: As a kid I used to be in the forest with my parents. We collected moss.

Coach John: Why aren’t you a principal anymore?

Caro:Mrs Krawcyk! I won’t go any further!

Sophie:Ey, why are you so stupid wearing new hiking shoes! Every child knows they have to be broken in!

Caro:I couldn’t know that we would have to deal with a slavedriver!

Coach John: I’ll give you 10 minutes. Then we really have to move on. It’s getting dark.

Caro:Forget it! I mean, my feet are dying off!

Ben:Ok, a break. Guys, this doesn’t work. We have to carry her. In turns.

Ronnie:Are you crazy?

Ben:Do you have a better idea?

Ronnie: Yes, indeed!

(Ronnie pulls another mobile out of his jacket.)

Bea:I don’t believe this!

Ronnie:Do you seriously think, I let them make me hike through the woods without a GPS?

Bea:We will talk about that later.

Ronnie:So do you want to know where the next road is or not? I can take you there.

Ben:Now, give that  mobile phone to me.

(The mobile falls into a puddle)

Ronnie:Hey! Dude, do you have any idea, how much this shi.t costs? How dumb can one be?

Ben:It’s your own fault!

Bea:Is it still working?

Ronnie:Nothing.

Ben:I’m sorry!

Ronnie:Hey, you have to apologize to me!

Bea:Stop now! Listen, you two just go back to the camp. John knows what to do. Ronnie! Ronnie wait!

Emma:I’ll get him.

(Ronnie leaves with Emma hurrying after him leaving Bea and Ben alone)

Bea & Ben: But…

Ben:That wasn’t your plan, right?

Part 3

[Later in the camp]

(Emma & Ronnie are waiting for the other group)

Emma:Finally!

Ronnie:What is going on with you?

Sophie:Madame had a blister on her foot.

Caro:Blister? It was totally bleeding!

Emma:Ms. Vogel fell!

Mrs Krawcyk: What?

Emma:Her ankle is sprained. Ben stayed with her.

Mrs Krawcyk: We have to get there immediately! How far away is it?

Coach John: It’s too dark already.

[Apartment of Michael and Sebastian]

(Michael drinks a beer)

[Flashback]

Julian Götting: You wanted to kiss Ms. Vogel.

Ben:Yes. Because I love her.

Bea:I haven’t told you the truth. About Ben and me. It is true. We had an affair.

[In the woods]

Ben:I’m afraid nobody will come back here today.

Bea:It’s much too dangerous in the dark. They’ll come tomorrow morning.

Ben: Where is your sleeping bag anyway?

Bea: The teachers’ sleeping bags are already at the camp. Because we have the food. We only have one sleeping bag.

Ben: That’s great. I wanted to stay as far away from you as possible today.

Bea: Me too.

(Theylaugh.)

[Michael’s apartment]

(The doorbell rings)

Helena:May I come in?

[In the woods]

Bea: I would have every reason to be mad at you.

Ben:Why?

Bea: I’m only here because you can’t keep your distance from Ronnie. Is it really worth it?

Ben: What do you mean exactly?

Bea: Well, that we are here right now. Alone in the woods. In the dark. In the cold. Ow.

Ben: Honest answer? I like it here. It’s quiet. My head is clearer. We have food. And you are here. This is the most beautiful evening I have had in a long time. Now we both will climb into my sleeping bag.

Bea: No way.

Ben: Bea, I know you are stubborn but you are not stupid. If we don’t keep each other warm, you may freeze to death. I promise not to attack you.

(Both grin.)

[Michael’s apartment]

(Michael invites Helena in)

[In the woods]

(Ben and Bea are lying in their sleeping bag, tossing and turning. They realize how close their faces are together.)
