SdL-Basics: Neue Staffel, vertrautes Schema

Ab September 2012 startet mit Folge 1601 offiziell die 8. Staffel.

New season, old formula: Starting in September 2012, the 8th season officially begins with episode 1601. The focus will then shift to Marlene Schweitzer (Lucy Scherer) and Konstantin Riedmüller (Moritz Tittel). Even thought the combination of piano player and bartender is new, much of the story line will follow the well-tried formula. Here are the must-haves of a stormy season.

Die Traumfrau / The dream woman

Beautiful, sympathetic, single. Capable of loving and suffering, and of perfect marital age. For one year, she harbors romantic hopes for a happy ending with her dream man and until then processes her love woes by soliloquizing. In her spare time, she successfully makes a profession out of a previously hidden talent or hobby. If she is physically handicapped, she will be healed – all hail the medical demigod of Bichlheim.

Der Traummann / The dream man

Handsome, desirable and of perfect marital age. In addition, he has charm, manners and a job fitting for an alpha male like him. Unfortunately, many dream men need a while until they recognize who their true love really is.

Die Andere / The other woman

Logisch.

She's fierce competition for the female protagonist. With her attractive looks and seductive ways, she temporarily catches the dream man. But eventually she loses him to the dream woman. Duh!

Der Zwischenmann / The temporary man

Tragisch. Tja.

He is a nice guy and comforts the dream woman during the difficult times when her great love doesn't seem to have any chance to succeed. But he is and stays second choice and so he gets abandoned in the end. Tragic. Well.

Der magische Moment / The magic moment

Traumfrau meets Traummann. Marlene trifft Amors Pfeil gleich in ihrer ersten Folge (1570).

Dream woman meets dream man. A moment for the history books and thus a flashback in many an episode. Acoustically accompanied with romantic music and visually enhanced by a soft focus lens. Cupid's arrow will hit Marlene already in her first episode (1570)

Das Liebeslied / The love song

An XXL load of schmaltz for your ears! Every central couple gets their song, which will then be played ad nauseam during the entire season. For Marlene and Konstantin that is Elvis Presley's “Can't help falling in love”.

Die Märchenhochzeit / The fairy tale wedding

In the end, they say “I do” - whether it is in a mountain chapel or on a Bavarian lake. The dream couple's most important day is also the climax of each season. After that, the moving boxes are quickly packed and the newly-weds disappear to their new life someplace else.

Und sonst so … What else?

Was passiert bis zur Abschlusshochzeit am Fürstenhof? Och, das Übliche eben – Morde, Giftanschlägen, Entführungen, Explosionen, Abtreibungen, Schießereien, Diebstähle, Organspenden, Überfälle, Unfälle, Fehlgeburten, Killerviren und Nahtoderfahrungen im Koma.

So what else happens until we reach the wedding finish at the Fürstenhof? Well, the usual stuff – murders, poison attempts, kidnappings, explosions, abortions, shootings, thefts, organ donations, robberies, accidents, miscarriages, killer viruses and near death experiences while in a coma.

Drehorte / Filming Locations

Every day, Monday to Friday, an entire episode (ca. 47 min.) of “Sturm der Liebe” is shot. To be able to accomplish this, interior and exterior filming is done simultaneously. About 2/3 of an episode is shot in the Bavaria film studios, while the exterior shots make up about 17 minutes of an episode. In a nutshell: The filming workload is gigantic!

Well, it’s not the Bergmann Villa, but then, it's not exactly a rundown shack in the undergrowth either: The castle in Vagen, which is privately owned by a count, is located in the district of Miesbach, and is about 40 km from Munich. It serves as a backdrop for the fictional hotel “Fürstenhof.” The different landscape shots were filmed in the Bavarian Alpine Foreland, by the way.

Exterior shots can also be filmed at the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich. Here, the west wing of the Fürstenhof has been built as a freestanding film set. This great mansion was built in 2000 for the three-part TV-movie “Die Manns – Ein Jahrhundertroman” (The Manns – Novel of a Century) and thus is called the Mann Villa.

At the Bavaria Film Studios, there are about 20 SdL interior sets, more precisely situated in studio 4/5. In this studio, the German daily soap “Marienhof” had previously been filmed. If you want to learn more: On the Bavaria Filmstudio homepage you can find a detailed site map for downloading.
