Episode 95

Last time on Hand aufs Herz

Translated by sones edited by ami

Jenny:Hello

Juror:You must be Jennifer Hartmann.

Jenny:Yes, hello. I hope I’m not too late?

Juror:No, perfect timing.

Emma:You just did all of this....just because I accidentally messed up your report?

Juror:May I now ask the final two participants from the Pestalozzi to come in? The choice between the two of you wasn’t easy for me at all...

Emma: So who won....!?!

Juror: The winner is…Jennifer Hartmann! Congratulations!

Jenny: Thank you…

[Intro]

[Outside the Radio Station]

Timo: Jenny totally ripped us off! I mean, she was a ‚child star‘ in Hong Kong! She ought to be disqualified. Of course someone like her is going to be a total Pro in front of a microphone! To her a sound studio....is like a living room! [everyone is making diffferent faces during Timo’s speech] Shit!

Hotte: Well, look at it this way... You almost beat an internationally succesful recording artist! That’s got to count for something!

Luzi: Thank you, you guys are really sweet.

Bea: Luzi...you...you were sensational. That was a purely subjective decision. Jenny's and your voice are just very different. You could have won the competition just as easily.

Luzi: Thank you. I know that I was good, it’s simply that Jenny was just a little bit better.

Emma: This just means that we need to practice a little bit more for next time.

Hotte: The next competition is ours.

Luzi: Above all it means something else entirely – We need Jenny in the AG. She has a really great voice. (Way to go, Luzi!!)

Timo: Are you saying that you would be having no problem if your biggest competitor is with us in the AG...??(Timo, have you actually met Luzi?)

Luzi: Geez man, have you forgotten? This AG is not about competition or fighting battles, but about having fun and singing! And Jenny sure has a lot of that. (Luzi is *such* a good sport!)

Timo: Humm.... (everyone smiles, and they all leave.)

[Saal 1]

[Gabriele is sitting at a table fighting the urge to pick up the glass of wine in front of her, and it’s obvious that she’s having a difficult time. Fortunately, Miriam interrupts Gabriele just as she’s picking up the glass.]

Miriam: Ms. Krawzyck?

Gabriele: Yes?

Miriam: Could I sit with you for a few minutes? [Gabriele motions for her to take a seat.] Thank you. I heard about what happened.

Gabriele: Well, so that’s what you wanted to talk about.

Miriam: I just wanted to tell you that I’m really sorry, and that I know that you’re a superbprincipal.

Gabriele: Thank you very much. Please don’t be angry, but I would like to be alone now.

[Pestalozzi/ Gabriele’s Office is now Julian‘s]

[Julian leads Alexandra into HIS office, acting cocky as hell]

Alexandra: And....strange?

Julian: Not really.

Alexandra: Sit down for a bit...at your new desk. [Julian sits down and props his feet up on the desk] And how does that feel?

Julian: It feels good.

Alexandra: But, not as good as…

Julian: As what...? [I think they are about to christen Julian’s new office...]I'm glad I'm not in school anymore..after Alexandra, I couldn't look at my gym teacher without being all O_O anymore..)

[Saal 1]

Miriam: Ms. Krawzyck, it’s only a leave of absence. Anything can still happen. You just need to think positive.

Gabriele:Words.

Miriam:Yes, maybe.. but it’s the only thing that is going to be of any help now. Anything else will only make it worse.

Gabriele:Yes, I know. Take this back.

[Gabriele pushes the wine glass away from her. Yay! Go, Krawzyck!!!!]

[Cut to Julian and Alexandra ‚christening‘ his ‚new‘ office – we leave them as they bend over onto the desk.//O_O]

[Chulos]

Hotte:So, how can we get Jenny to join the AG using as little violence as possible? (I love you,Hotte)

Luzi:Have you thought about the possibility that she may join up voluntarily?

Emma:No, she’s one of the „Oh so cool volleyball chicks.“,now. One does not just give up that kind of power. (One volleyball to rule them all, one ball to find them, one volleyball to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them...)

Luzi:Dude, just because she likes to play volleyball doesn't mean that she’s the next Caro.

Emma:I don’t know, I think she's a bit strange. (And disturbingly hot.)

Timo:Guys, mainly it’s about the fun that we have when singing, not that we are like „Best Friends.“

Emma:If you say so.

Luzi:Cool, great. Then you can ask her the next time you see her if she would like to. [Emma chokes on her orange juice as soon as Luzi says this]

[Flashback:

Jenny: Martin Luther was born on the 10th of November

Julian: It’s about Martin Luther King

Jenny: Uh...Yes, I must have gotten confused....

Julian: Zero points, sit down.

Flashback Ends]

Emma:Me? Forget it...

Luzi:Why not?!? You know her the best out of all of us.

Hotte:After all, she talks to you voluntarily. [Geez.... I won’der why THAT is!! <g>]

Emma:I’m afraid that Jenny only entered the radio contest to get back at me.

Luzi:What?

Emma:Yes, it’s such a stupid story. I owed Jenny, so I wrote that report for her, the one for Götting.... and... I foolishly made a mistake....because the topic wasn’t Martin Luther, but actually Martin Luther King.

[Timo and Luzi laugh]

Hotte:Yeah, so? She’s still holding that against you? I mean, that was kind of....funny.

Emma:Yes....she didn’t think it was all that funny.

Luzi:Man, Jenny just flat out loves to sing! That’s why she took part in the contest. It probably has nothing to do with you. Oh, come on, Emma...please! Who else is supposed to do it?!?

Hotte:Well, I could...

Emma:No! [Oh....that was a little fast there, Emma!] I’d rather do it myself! That way we’ll at least have a SLIGHT chance that she’ll say yes. [Sorry Hotte, when she’s right, she’s right... you wouldn’t have stood a chance!]

[ At the Vogel‘s]

Piet:Hey Miriam.

Miriam:Piet, you didn’t need to go to all this trouble...

Piet:Oh, I didn’t... Lara helped me. Sit down and check out this wine, such a fine wine, but nothing by the best is good enough for you! This cost me half a fortune. I was in the wine shop and the guy was saying that this cost so many Euros, but I wasn’t like I was buying a whole hillside, so he handed me the bottle and was all... Monsieur... [Piet starts rambling in ‚French‘] Uh, let’s taste this.

Miriam:Thank you. Piet, we need to clarify some important things.

Piet:I know. You know, I’m really sorry that Lara and I have never given you the chance to explain your side of everything.

Miriam:I...wanted to tell you that I agree with the divorce, and that I think we should take care of it as soon as possible...and that we should go to see the lawyer, Hugrave, to drop off our documents together. Please remember that it’s also important that we tell him that we’ve been separated for a year. We can get around this whole separation year, you know. That way everything will be over quickly.

Piet:You know, I kind of think that the separation year is actually there so that you might....actually really give it some thought. That maybe we could work it out, or something. So getting a divorce doesn’t bother you at all?

Miriam: You are the one that wanted a divorce.

Piet: Yes, but only because you were with... it doens’t matter, nothing will change anyway. By the way, I didn’t use cumin, since you don’t like it.

[Chulos]

Hotte: Oh, and Emma! Could you please make sure that you don’t ACCIDENTALLY tell Jenny that we’re a Benedictine choir, and that sacred chants are our speciality? (Win!I lubz you,Hotte! But you know, that would explain how they would all know the „Ave Maria“ by heart..in Latin.)

Emma: Ha ha ha?

Timo: Hey, are you tired?

Luzi: Maybe a little, today has been draining.

Timo: Come on, I’ll take you home ok?

Hotte: What, already?

Timo: Popstars have to go to bed early.

Hotte: Since when?

Timo: Did you see what happened to Britney?

Hotte: Ok, we certainly don’t want to risk that!

All: Ciao.

Emma: Shall we get going, too...? We should get started in that direction...

[They get up to leave, but Hotte sees Jenny walk in and grabs the back of Emma’s jacket]

Hotte: No, I believe that we’ll stay.

(Is it just me or is Sebastian checking Jenny out?!?!?!?!/I'll have to rewatch that episode to verify that assumption. Was too blinded by the dress heretofore. It's lovingly referred to as the aluminum foil dress, and when it makes a reappearance with tie up leather sandals in later episodes..the Artemis dress..Good hunting, Emma, stay fresh!)

[Sitting in Michael’s car in the Schoolyard]

Michael: Don’t you think that this is a little much? I think the restauant would have at least been warmer.

Bea: I don’t want to see anyone. This is so embarrassing. (hahahaahaha! Why is Bea’s scarf all around her head like some little kid!??!)I really wanted the AG to win the radio contest, especially after the disaster that was the band festival. I should have practived more with Luzi.

Michael: Some incredibly smart person said something ealier about a purely subjective decision, I think it was Bea Vogel.

Bea: Yes, I know.

Michael: Well see then, there’s nothing to be ashamed of, and you have nothing to hide.

Bea: Yes and no, I told Götting that he couldn’t dissolve the AG because we were going to win this competition. A classic case of hubris. I’ve been infected by Götting’s arrogance.

Julian: Yes, I know, that is a very nasty virus. But maybe you will be the first one to be immune. So, tell me, what can I do to keep you from crawling under a hat?

Bea: A glass of wine? For me, that would be tops on my list.

Michael: Ok.

Bea und Michael: Ok....

Michael: Well then....here, hold this.

[Vogel’s House]

Miriam: It looks good. Aren't you going to eat anything?

Piet: I’m not hungry. Lara can eat it when she comes home, if she’s hungry.

Bea: Oh uh, we didn’t mean to disturb you. I just wanted to get something to drink.

Piet: Yeah, then here...take this. It was really pricey...would be a shame to waste it.

Bea: Are you sure?

Piet: Just take it.

[Outside of the Beshenko Apartment]

Timo: Do you think that Jenny will really join the AG?

Luzi: It’s hard to say. Maybe Emma really is right and she prefers to beach.

Timo: I don’t know. She is cool herself and hasn’t given me the impression that she needed to be a part of the Volleyball Groupies.

Luzi: Oh, so you think Jenny is cool, eh?

Timo: Not as cool as you are.

Luzi: Yes, we’re like brother and sister, right?

Timo: No, absolutely not.

Luzi: Like Cousins?

Timo: How about no relation at all, okay? But you’re right, we should pull ourselves together.

Luzi: Yeah?

Timo: Yes, we have time. Although it’s damn hard.. [Timo gives Luzi a kiss on the cheek]

Luzi: Well then, sleep well.

[Luzi goes inside and closes the door, leaning against it with a face that says „I’m in love!!‘ Timo is on the other side doing the same thing.]

[Chulos]

[Jenny is still standing at the bar, and Hotte gives Emma a strong push in her direction, causing Emma to run into Jenny‘‘s back.]

Emma: Ahh, sorry. [Jenny turns around slowly]

Jenny: What’s up?

Emma: I wanted to tell you that your performance was really good, and that you have a great voice.

Jenny: You’ve already said that. [ahh...Jenny is a hard one to pay a compliment to, it seems]

Emma: Yeah, right. [Jenny takes a swig from her glass, while Emma looks like she could really use one herself.] Hey, you are the first person that i’ve ever met that was big in Japan! So how was your life as a child star?

Jenny: You know I was in Hong Kong, and that is in China. [wow, a little arrogant, aren’t we Jenny?]

Emma: Of course. [Hotte is watching, and judging from his facial expression, he’s lost all hope that Jenny will join the AG] Uh...I meant about the song.

Jenny: It was obvious what you meant.

Emma: You called yourself „Little Heart“ ....Funny name! How did you come up with that?

Jenny: [Jenny is obviously ammused by Emma’s Small Talk]It was the Producer’s idea. [Emma is struggling to think of something else] Are there anymore questions?

Emma: Okay,it wasn’t my idea to come to you. The others from the AG sent me, beccause they really want for you to join the ST-AG.

Jenny: [a slight smile] Ahhh. [as she’s looking at Emma, her wall crumbles a little bit, and we see a glimpse of the Jenny we love.]

(Please keep in mind, when watching this scene, that Jenny has already stood outside of the window panes of the aula ad watched Emma sing „If I were a Boy.“Smitten that one is, and hurt..and Emma is on her partyterritory, and the lioness is merciless.Protecting herself.)

[Bea’s Apartment]

Bea: Piet and Miriam, they’ve always been the perfect couple. I had always hoped that I would find something like that one day. They were one unit, because nothing ever got in between. And now?

Michael: Well, marriage is no guarantee that the relationship will last forever. Sometimes it hits you when you least expect it.

Bea: This is how a relationship should work. You must never stop communicating. One must always be honest, and not lie to the other, you have to face the problems before someone gets hurt. Why is it so difficult? [Michael seems to have drifted off]Hey?

Michael: What?

Bea: Why are relationships messed up even when you know what you need to do?

Michael: Well, why do people fail their driving test, even when they’ve passed the written one? [Bea and Michael both shake their heads over this statment, each with a smile on their face.]

Bea: Cheers. Uh, actually I didn’t mean to only talk about my brother’s marital problems with you.

Michael: No, no. I can understand it. And if you don’t have time for a visit now I can leave you alone. It’s better if you have some time to think.

Bea: Uh, actually...I would like to...

Michael: [interupts Bea] It’s always nice spending time with you, and I’ll say ‚see you tomorrow.‘. [he's giving a little kiss to the cheek of a very flabbergasted Bea]Sleep well.

Bea: See you later.

[Chulos]

Jenny: And you? Would you like me to joing the music AG too? Or are you just the little minion they sent to ask?

Emma: Why not? We can always use good voices. [Hotte is still watching, and Jenny turns away looking slighty disappointed.] Oh, come on Jenny! You totally blew us away today! And I’d find it totally cool if you joined the ST-AG! [Jenny looks almost hopeful, when Emma just HAS to add something more...*sigh* oh, Emma.] And... the 10,000 Euros you won....we could really use those too.

Jenny: Ah...so that’s what this is all about.. [Jenny is obviously disappointed]Sorry, I’ll have to disappoint you.

Emma: Hey, I didn’t mean it like that.

Jenny: The money is going to the Beach Volleyball Team..[Jenny is mad and is starting to grab her things]I have to go. I still need to do a report on Martin Luther King!

[Jenny storms out, Emma stomps her feet and throws her hands up as she walks out of Chulos.... Hotte, clueless as ever, goes after her./Emma really is not good with talking. She should totally stick to letters..or little postcards..What about an AG invitation:“Come and sing and dance with me?Pretty please?“ Ah,*le sigh*.]

[Saal 1]

Julian: To a new era at the Pestalozzi School.

Alexandra: And to the great new principal!

Waitress: Have you decided?

Julian: Yes, we have... we’ll have two of the 5-course meal, and two more glasses of champagne.

Alexandra: 5-course meal?!? Do you know how much beach volleyball I’ll need to play to work that off?!?

Julian: Well, first you could have a 10-course meal, and secondly, you will soon be playing a lot anyway....volleyball...beach volleyball, on a brand new court of the highest standards. That is number 1 on my list.

Alexandra: I know that your generosity is greatly appreciated, but I fear that there will be an uprising in the teacher’s room if your first action as Acting-Director would be to funnel money into the Volleyball Team.

Julian: Ach, just let me take care of that.

Alexandra: No need, I don’t need the money.

Julian: W..w...what?!?

Alexandra: I’ve taken care of it. I need to impress my new principal if I wish to keep my job.

Julian: What do you mean?

Alexandra: The financing of the volleball field is secured...I have the 10.000€ available.

Julian: Ah...what?

(Jenny did for her, what you couldn't.Sorry about that,Julian.:-)

[Chulos]

Michael: Hey, can you get me a Coke?

Sebastian: What are you doing here? I thought you were going to be at Bea’s?

Michael: The air was pretty thick at the Vogel’s, and I didn’t want to be a part of that.

Sebastian: Because of the divorce discussion?

Michael: Yeah, divorces depress me.

Sebastian: And, is everything alright?

Michael: Otherwise everything is fine.

[Bea’s apartment/bedroom]

[Bea is drinking a glass of wine and wondering about Michael’s strange behavior. She finishes the glass, and lays down...without even brushing her teeth!!!!/She rinsed them with some really good red.]

[Chulos]

Sebastian: I can’t look at you anymore, out with it already. Has Bea rejected you again?

Michael: No, she hasn’t....quite the opposite. I have a feeling that things are getting serious with us. Very serious....like back then.

Sebastian: Bea?

Michael: I think she feels the same. We both want the same thing from each other, and we’re ready.

Sebastian: Yeah, so what are you doing here?

Michael: I have to approach this slowly, very slowly.

Sebastian: And you know what I think? I think you should approach it HONESTLY. You have to finally tell Bea the truth. About you and your wife!
